A graduate of Reading High School. He was drafted by the Washington Senators and played “A” ball at St. Augustine, FL. Tom was an outstanding amateur athlete who won two Berks Rec League baseball batting titles while playing for Barmac. While playing for St.
Donato’s, he hit three homeruns in one game. During the same year, he hit four homeruns in one game for the Southends softball team. He played for the Sokol teams that won four city titles. His Camp McCoy army team won the Mid-West Military title and he also played quarterback for Fort Riley, KS. He was instrumental in the city basketball championships won by Williams & Arnold, 7th & Willow, Milloni’s Tavern, Ertel’s Real Estate and V&S Sandwich Shop teams. He was the scoring champion in many leagues and was the MVP in the Reading YMCA tournament (1954). Inducted into the Berks Basketball Old-Timers Honorary Life Membership (2000).
