Socrates “Socks” Anthony

All Around

An all-around athlete who was outstanding in baseball, basketball and soccer at Reading High School (1943). He played on the Red Knights’ East Penn League baseball championship teams (1942 & 1943). Socks later played in the Canadian-American Baseball League and won the Illinois state amateur baseball title. He played on five different city title basketball teams and was the scoring champion for the Greek Hellenic Basketball League. He also played five years of professional basketball with Buffalo in the AAA International League. Anthony was a Pennside resident. “Socks” remembers fondly his playing days with fellow Hall of Fame teammates, George Zeppos and Tom Kranis.
