Graduate of West Chester University (1965) and the University of Pittsburgh (1966) where he taught for three years and earned a Master’s Degree. He was involved in scholastic aquatics for 35 years, teaching and coaching at Muhlenberg High School (1967-77) and Governor Mifflin High School (1978- 2002). Snyder had over 300 wins in boys and girls swimming and produced 25 District 3 individual champions. He also taught water safety for 37 years. He was president of the Berks Aquatics Hall of Fame and the Pennsylvania High School Coaches Association of which he was a member for 30 years. Gerald was inducted into the Pennsylvania Swimming Hall of Fame.
