Katie was an outstanding student-athlete at Wilson HS and went on to represent the USA on the Women's Field Hockey team in the Olympics. At Wilson, she was an All-Berks selection in field hockey and track and earned a scholarship to the University of Maryland for field hockey. For the Terrapins she became a first team All-American selection and was the Terrapins team captain in 1995 and 96. Katie was a leading member of Maryland’s NCAA title team in '93. She became Wilson's first female Olympian as a member of the USA team at the Atlanta Games in 1996. In 1998 and 2002 she was a member of the World Cup team and played on the 1999 silver medal Pan Am team. In 2000 Katie was named the National Field Hockey Player of the Year.
