Dick Horst

Dick has been involved in wrestling for the past 50 years as a competitor, coach, and parent. Wrestled for Reading HS and Albright College. In 1965 he placed first in the MAC Championships. He was a four year member of the Lions football squad and a 2 year starter at guard. After coaching briefly in NJ he returned to Berks in 1970 and started the wrestling program at Wyomissing HS where he compiled a record of 59-50 in 10 years. In 1980 he was the head coach at Albright College and later coached at Governor Mifflin for two seasons. From 1983 to 1987 he assisted his sons Peter and Matthew in their successful state championship careers. Since 1984 he has been an assistant at Schuylkill Valley HS. He was inducted into the National Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2019, the Berks Wrestling Hall of Fame, the District 3 Wrestling Coaches Hall of Fame and the Albright College Hall of Fame.
