Chris is a Governor Mifflin graduate. In 1976 at the PIAA District 3 meet she won the 100 backstroke and her time tied the National HS record. She went on to win numerous PIAA district and state titles and All-American honors. In 1977 she broke the USA record in the 100 back. She was the first Pa. girl to break the one minute barrier in the 100 back with a 59.97. Chris swam on the US National Team from 1976-1980 and competed world-wide. She qualified for the US Olympic Trials on three occasions. She attended University of Florida on a full scholarship and was a leading member of their NCAA D-1 national championship in 1979. She later continued her career at Cal. State, Northridge and led the team to the D-2 NCAA team title while breaking the national record in the backstroke.
