Leroy was the defensive anchor on Wilson High’s unbeaten team in 1987 and coach, John Gurski described Leroy as the toughest and strongest lineman he ever coached. Leroy was named Berks best defensive player. He was a First-team All-State selection and named to the Pennsylvania BIG 33 team. He also was named to the Eagle’s All-Time Berks football team with a career record of 198 tackles. He also had an outstanding wrestling career for the Bulldogs going 33-2 his senior year. Leroy went to Clarion University on a wrestling scholarship. He was inducted into the Berks County Football Coaches Hall of Fame and the Wilson Sports Hall of Fame in 1988.
