Edward Kuhn Jr.

Ed is a member of West Reading High School’s first state championship team in 1959. He attended Mt. St. Mary’s University where he was president of the student government. In 1977 he received the Distinguished Alumni Award and in 2014 was awarded the National Alumni Association Simon Brute Award. In 2007 he was inducted into the Mt. St. Mary’s Athletic Hall of Fame. He also graduated from Boston University. Ed is best known for founding and directing the West Reading Summer basketball League for over 50 years and starting the West Reading-Sacramento cultural exchange in 1972. He received the Vermeil Award for Outstanding Leadership in 1979. In 2010 Ed was inducted into the Berks County Basketball Hall of Fame. In ’83 he was awarded the Sportsmanship Award from the Berks Chapter of the Pa Sports Hall of Fame.
