John Gilmore was Wilson High School’s outstanding male athlete in 1996. He was a 2-time All-Berks tight end and first team selection for LL League. He was named to the Pa. Big 33 team. He played tight end four years for Coach Joe Paterno at Penn State where he had 58 catches, 634 yards receiving and 3 touchdowns. He was presented the Hall Foundation Award as Penn State’s Outstanding Senior Football player in 2001. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears and played 6 seasons there, followed by three seasons with Tampa Bay and his final NFL season with New Orleans. In 2010, along with former Bulldog teammate, Chad Henne, they founded the Gilmore | Henne Community Fund which improves local recreation facilities and provides scholarships.
