“Long” Bill set Reading High’s career scoring record with 1,423 points from 1963 to 1966. He was a first team All-State and Central Penn selection. His senior season he led the Red Knights to a 25-1 record winning the CP League and District 3 titles. He averaged more than 15 rebounds per game and had a scoring average of 20.0 over his 71 game career. He was recruited by John Wooden at UCLA, however, he enrolled at Cal State Long Beach. He played under Jerry Tarkanian and was All PCAA in ’70. He was drafted by the Detroit Pistons in the 5th round (71st pick) in the 1970 NBA draft. He played professionally for the Pittsburgh Condors in the ABA for 1070-71 season and played in Mexico, Europe, South America and the Philippines. He was inducted into the Berks County Basketball Hall of Fame.
