Julio was an exceptional football player and wrestler at Central Catholic and Albright College in the mid 1970’s. As a high school football player, he set the Berks County record for points scored as a junior in 1973, then topped it as a senior. He also set Berks County records for touchdowns in a season (26) and a career (54), points in a season (167) and career points (349). Julio broke the single season records for rushing (1,814) and career yards (3,867). He was named to the First Team All-League and was selected as Back of the Year in 1973 and 1974 and was selected as third-team All-State. In wrestling, Julio was an undefeated high school wrestler at 180 pounds and a member of the 1977 MAC championship team at Albright.
