A 1994 graduate of Wyomissing Area High School, where she was a standout in soccer, basketball and field hockey. She was a three-time team captain in soccer, a four-time All-Berks and all-state selection, an All-American and the Pennsylvania Player of the Year as a senior. She led the county in scoring four times and finished her career with 142 goals and 82 assists. In basketball, she was a four-year starter, a three-time captain and a three-time All-Berks pick who averaged 19.8 points per game in her career and scored 1,886 points, still a school record. She received Parade All-American honorable mention as a senior. In field hockey, she was a three-year starter who finished her career with 30 goals and 15 assists. Hoffman went on to play soccer at Penn State, where she scored the first goal in the program’s history and was a four-time team MVP. She made the All-Big Ten first team and the Mid-Atlantic Region first team in all four of her seasons and finished her career with 58 goals and 33 assists, which still ranks fourth in school history. Hoffman also played for the New York Power in the Women’s United Soccer League, the first women’s professional league in the United States. After retiring, she has coached soccer and basketball for Alvernia, FC Revolution, Reading United and Wyomissing, where she has guided the Spartans to four Berks and four District 3 Class 2A soccer championships.
