Distinguished Award


Each year the Hall of Fame board may choose to recognize individuals, organizations or teams for their contributions or accomplishments to Berks County sports. Though they are not officially inductees into the Hall of Fame the board feels it is important to acknowledge them.
Margaret McIntosh - Inspirational Athlete Award
Margaret McIntosh was an international level equestrian, competing at 3 Day Eventing, the triathlon of equestrian events. Competing at the Olympic level, she finished the Rolex Kentucky 4* Three Day Event in 1998. In 1999, she suffered a fall at a competition in Virginia, resulting in a spinal cord injury. Initially paralyzed from the chest down, she regained the ability to walk with a cane but more importantly, the ability to ride. In 2016, she competed as a member of the United States team at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, on a horse named Rio Rio. She continued competing internationally, becoming US Para Equestrian Dressage Reserve National Champion in September of 2017 and an alternate to the United States World Equestrian Games Para Equestrian team in 2018.Named IM ABLE’s Motivator of the Year In 2017, she continued to work out at Chris Kaag’s Corps Fitness Crossfit Berks facility in Wyomissing.
