Bill’s cross country teams won four titles while he was at Birdsboro High School. Bill was also the captain of the basketball team and was coached by Gene Shirk. While a student at Albright College, Bill was captain of the track team. One of the real track experts in Berks County, Bill was very likeable and a great coach of fundamentals to his track team members. His track teams at Governor Mifflin High School won 23 Berks Scholastic League championships. He coached football at Governor Mifflin in addition to track. He also coached at Elizabethtown College and was coach of the Paul Harris Track Club. The annual Governor Mifflin Victory Track Meet is named in his honor.
