Norbert “Yummy” Billinger

Born in Reading (1908), Norbert “Yummy” Billinger played football at Reading High School for coach John Dietrich and also served as manager of the Red Knights basketball team before graduating (1929). He went on to Catholic University, Washington, D.C. and played center and guard in football for four years for coach Arthur “Dutch” Bergman, who later coached the Washington Redskins of the NFL. Billinger earned letters his final three seasons and was awarded a B.A. degree in arts from Catholic University (1933). He then served as a football, basketball, baseball and track official (1933) until his induction into the U.S. Air Force in WWII. He then taught and coached at Reading High School until his retirement (1977).
