Samuel Goodman

Earned varsity letters in baseball, basketball and football, Sammy also led the Central Penn Basketball League in scoring (1926). Born in Reading on August 27, 1906, Goodman sustained a permanent hip injury in high school that ended his playing career. He stayed active in basketball as a coach. He coached the Jewish Community Center, Reading Migdals and Purity teams on the amateur level. On the professional level, he coached the Reading Keys (1935-39) of the Tri-County League and the Reading Rangers (1950-51) of the Eastern League.
