Earned All-New Jersey state honors as a tackle at Roselle Park High School under coach Herm Shaw. “Cam” also competed in track while at Roselle Park High. He went to Albright College, where he played track and football and competed for coaches Clarence “Biggie” Munn and William “Lone Star” Dietz (1934-38). He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in economics and began a career in broadcasting. He was a radio sportscaster for nine years and a television sports announcer for two years. At the height of his broadcasting career, Cammarota developed a slogan by which he became known with: “Remember, whether you win or lose, be a good sport.” Ed was a teacher and coach at Wyomissing High School. Among his civic accomplishments were 16 years as president of the Albright College Alumni Varsity Club, division co-chairman of two Albright capital fund drives, a 20-year member of the Muhlenberg Township Park and Recreation Commission, a 12-year volunteer with the Reading YMCA and co-chairman of the Committee on Crime and Drug Prevention.
