Baseball

A graduate of Reading High School, where he played two years of baseball for Johnny Dietrich. Bobby went on to be involved in basketball and baseball as a player and coach for 40 years. During his baseball career, he batted over .400 in 14 seasons and was named MVP in the Industrial League (1946). He was the MVP for the St. Donato club of the Lebanon Valley League (1959) and led leagues in hitting on three occasions. Rothenberger played baseball for the Gregg Post Legion team, Lincolns, Green Valley, Topton, Terre Hill, V.V.V.’s, Clover Farms, Myerstown, Denver, John Mazzo, Hillsides, Barmac, RCY and St. Donato. He also coached the Gregg Post Legion baseball team for 20 years and was inducted into the American Legion Pennsylvania Hall of Fame. In basketball, Bobby played five seasons. His career covered stops with the semi-pro Reading Keys and Clover Farms. He also played for RCY, Dreamland Park and V.V.V.’s in rec competition. He retired from Consolidated Rail Corporation (Conrail).
