Basketball
State Induction1982

Former West Reading High School athlete who led the Cowboys to three straight Class C state basketball championships, was named to two All-State teams (1959 & 1961) and was selected All-Berks in all four years of his high school playing career (1958-61). Ron broke Wilt Chamberlain’s then state scoring record by finishing his career with 3,174 points, a 32-plus PPG average and earned national prominence with his election to the Parade and Scholastic All-American teams (1960 & 1961). Despite severe shoulder injuries, Krick played four seasons of college basketball at the University of Cincinnati, which won the Missouri Valley crown when he was a senior. He was drafted into the NBA by the Cincinnati Royals, but shoulder injuries short-circuited his athletic career, which also included track and field during high school. Ron finished his career playing for the Exeter Black Knights team that won the National Amateur Basketball Tournament, wherein he was named the tournament MVP (1970).
