One of Berks County’s outstanding fancy divers during the 1930s. He won the state YMCA championship (1930) and was a Berks County Senior Diving Champion (1931- 33). In addition to winning local diving championships, he was Berks County’s Breaststroke Champion (1932 & 1933). He placed third in the National AAU Diving Championships at Lake Placid, NY (1932) and third in the Middle-Atlantic AAU Diving Championships (1933). Carroll was a graduate of Reading High School and was active in dramatics and pageantry, in addition to swimming. He went on to attend Albright College and Lehigh University. While at Lehigh, he was the college Diving Champion as a member of the varsity swim team. Kring also managed the Birdsboro and South of Penn swim teams (1936-38, 1940). He was a physician in the city of Reading and was also an avid water polo player. Carroll was inducted into the Berks County Swimming Hall of Fame (1971).
