All Around

A graduate of Reading High School, Stan was a three-sport standout in football, basketball and track at the Castle. At one time, he held the state scholastic record with a 42-yard field goal. He was an all-around athlete at Muhlenberg College and later attended East Stroudsburg University to earn a physical education degree. Stan taught and coached at Mount Penn High School, where his basketball team won a Central Division title and his girls' volleyball team won the Berks County title. He returned to Reading High, where he coached football, basketball and track. He is credited with developing numerous Reading football players and guiding numerous youths in the city. Schweimler’s career also included work as a football and basketball official. Stan served as director of the Olivet Boys and Girls Club and served with the 108th Machine Gun Battalion in France, being wounded twice during WWII.
