Started boxing at the age of 13 and lost only 35 of his 377 career bouts over his career. He fought 125 professional bouts as a featherweight (1940-53). Jackson fought for the National AAU title four times and met six world champions, including Willie Pep three times and Sandy Saddler once, during his career. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Boxing Hall of Fame and has been cited by the Reading Police Athletic League for his volunteer work with youth.
