The acknowledged founder of wrestling in Berks County. He was the 145-pound weight class champion and outstanding wrestler for Lehigh University in the Eastern Intercollegiate Tournament (1945). A native of Seattle, WA, he moved to Reading (1956) after stops in Virginia, North Carolina and Florida. He was named “Man of the Year” by the U.S. Wrestling Federation and the Scholastic Wrestling News, was co-chairperson of the USWF national urban wrestling development program and has started programs from New York to San Francisco and Atlanta to Detroit. He is a member of the President’s and Governor’s councils on physical fitness and became the first Berks County member to be inducted into the Pennsylvania Wrestling Hall of Fame (1976).
