Basketball

An outstanding athlete in three sports, basketball, baseball and soccer, at Kutztown High School. In basketball, he was selected to the All-Berks County basketball team four years (1962-65) and was named to the Associated Press All-State second team (1964-65). He was named to the Parade magazine All-American first team and played for the Pennsylvania All-Stars against the Ohio All-Stars. In baseball, he was selected three times to the All-Berks County baseball team (1963-65) and in soccer, he was selected to the All-Berks County soccer team twice (1962-63). Dick went on to play basketball at North Carolina State University and was co-captain of the team during his senior year.
He won the Everett Case Memorial Award for basketball (1969). Braucher also played basketball with the Exeter Black Knights, who won the National Amateur Basketball Association Championship (1970).
