A graduate of Mount Penn High School (1970), Steve qualified for the U.S. world field archery team and went on to Arizona State University, where he was a four-time All-American and won an unprecedented four straight U.S. intercollegiate archery titles. At the forefront of national and international archery as a competitor and official for more than 15 years, Lieberman has won numerous national and world titles. He was named the non-playing captain of the U.S. team for the world championships and was also elected president of the National Archery Association (1979). He served a second term as NAA president (1981), when he was named as the association’s representative on the U.S. Olympic Committee executive board, effective through the Olympics in Los Angeles, CA (1984). He was selected as the non-playing captain of the U.S. team at the International Archery Invitational Championships in the People’s Republic of China (1982) and has been a member of the constitution and rules committee for the International Archery Federation and the U.S. representative on the FITA world governing congress. He was the U.S. liaison to the 13-member international archery committee at the Olympics in Los Angeles, CA (1984) and was a charter inductee into the Arizona State Hall of Fame (1975). He was later elected Berks County Judge (1997).
