Ana Bauscher never stepped into a swimming pool until January 1963. She was 60 years old. She became an All-American in several Masters events and was ranked in the U.S. Top 10 (in her age group) at several AAU and YMCA Masters events for 13 consecutive years (1978–90). In the Pan-Pacific Masters Aquatic Games at Indianapolis, IN, Anna won four gold and two silver medals at the age of 87 and became the first person of her age group in history to complete the 200 yard individual medley (1989). She was named to the U.S. Masters Swimming All-Star Team (1989), which is restricted to one swimmer (male or female) per age group, out of 29,000 registered Masters swimmers in the United States. She was the top scorer in the National Masters meet (1978), won six gold medals at the National Masters Sports Festival (1982), and won four gold medals in each National Masters Championship meet throughout the United States for seven consecutive years (1984–90). Anna received the Presidential Sports Award (1976) and was inducted into the Berks County Swimming Hall of Fame (1982).
