Walter “Buddy” Heckman

A PGA golf professional and member of the Professional Golf Association for 43 years. He turned professional (1950) and played in the PGA tour for several years. He was a seven-time Berks County Publinks Champion and was runner-up at the Pennsylvania Open (1964). He was the Pennsylvania State Publinks Champion (1947) and also won the State Publinks title by 13 strokes (1948). Buddy won the PA State American Legion Golf Title (1950, 1952) and managed Green Hills Golf Club (1950-53). He went on to manage the Manor Golf Club and later purchased the club with his brother, Harold (1967). For his career, Buddy had 20 holes-in-one and still holds the Manor Golf Club record of 59.
