One of the most outstanding golfers in Berks County history. He won over 100 local and state golf tournaments over a 30-year period. He holds the Pennsylvania State Publinks lowest score of 5-under par (279) for a four-day tournament (1960). Cotton won the Berks County Amateur Championship title, five State Publinks Golf Championships and seven Berks County Publinks Golf Championships. Over the years, Hirneisen won a combined 26 championships at various member-guest invitationals throughout the state. He won two Berks County Best Ball tournaments, six Manor Country Club championships, three F.M. Nichols Member/Guest tournaments at the Berkshire Country Club and four Galen Hall Country Club titles.
