Golf legend in Berks County. Won first tournament at the age of 14 in 1941 at Reading Country Club. Played in two U.S.G.A. Opens. Philadelphia Junior Champion (1947). Two- time winner of Fred Waring Invitational. Berks Amateur Champion in 1948, 1949, 1951 and 1963. Won Berks Better Ball Title with son Chip (1978). Won Berkshire Country Club title in 1948-49, 1951, 1957-59, 1964 and 1966. Competed in Canadian Amateur (1948). Was PGA “Long Drive Champ” (1952). At the time of induction, he lived in Gulf Breeze, Florida.
