Amedeo “Dick” DeAngelis

DeAngelis was voted Lineman of the Decade by the Wolfpack Club of North Carolina State University where he was a football stand-out for three years. Won an athletic scholarship and co-captained the North Carolina State team in 1955-57. Played both offense and defense, winning three varsity letters. 1957 team won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship for the first time in school history under his aggressive leadership. Played in the North/South Shrine Game. Freshmen line coach for North Carolina State (1963-65). Outstanding football player on both offense and defense at Reading High School. Co-captain of the football team in 1952-53. Member of the track team at Reading High School, participating in shotput and discus events. Assistant line coach and assistant track coach at Reading High School (1958-1963). He was inducted into the Reading High Athletic HOF in 2015. At the time of induction, he is a successful business operator and owner of “Amedeo’s” Restaurant in Raleigh, North Carolina for over thirty years.
