Gerry is a graduate of Wilson High School. All-County in football and wrestling. He was the Berks County Heavyweight Wrestling Champion (1970). A captain of the undefeated 1969 Wilson High School football team. All Tri-County team as offensive and defensive tackle. Attended Arizona State University where he played for three years under legendary coach Frank Kush. Played in the Fiesta Bowl in 1972 and again in 1973. Drafted by the Oakland Raiders under coach John Madden. An administrator in the Wilson school system, he was selected to Wilson’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1990. Head coach of Wilson High School football for twelve years and accumulated a record of 100-37 including five Lancaster-Lebanon League Championships and two District 3AAAA Championships. His 1989 team, led by Kerry Collins, went to the state finals. The 1990 team played in the Eastern Pennsylvania title game. Selected as Coach of the Year in the Lancaster-Lebanon League (1985, 1989-90). Played in the Big 33 game (1970) and was an assistant coach (1990). Head coach of the Big 33 Pennsylvania All-Star team (1994). Recorded 100th victory as Wilson head football coach during the 1994 football season. Moved to Arizona and became a high school principal.
