Outstanding all-around athlete at Brandywine Heights High School.
Led Berks County in scoring (1954-56) under coach Bob Millard.
Named top player in the Berks County League (1955-56). Led the county with 357 points (29.8 average), including a 48 point game vs. Oley High School (1955-56) and 460 points (30.7 average) (1956-57).
First Berks “hoopster” to score over 400 points in a single season, surpassing the county record of 364 points set by Wilson High School’s Barclay Sell. Had baseball try-out with the Pittsburgh Pirates at Forbes Field. Four-year basketball player at Elizabethtown College. Scored 1,067 points for Blue Jays, coached by Don Smith, becoming only the fifth player in Elizabethtown College history to score over 1,000 career points. All-State Honorable Mention by the Associated Press (1962). Drafted by the Camden Bullets of the Eastern Basketball League. Coached Nazareth High School to five Lehigh/Northampton League basketball titles. Recorded seven division titles in eight years as head coach. Compiled a career coaching record of 168-52.
Inducted into the Elizabethtown College Hall of Fame and Brandywine Heights High School Hall of Fame.
