All Around

One of the greatest all-around athletes ever to perform at Conrad Weiser High School (1971–74), he excelled in both basketball and football. Over four years of basketball, he scored 1,238 points and twice led the Berks Western Division in scoring with 452 points as a junior and 501 as a senior. In football, he played three years, was twice named All-Berks by the Reading Eagle, and helped lead the team to a 9–0 record in 1973. He scored 248 points with 37 touchdowns and 27 extra points, amassing 2,071 total yards, and was the only player named to the All-Decade team for both offense and defense in the 1970s. Named by J.C.C. as the top Berks Student Athlete in 1974 and Touchdown Club Back of the Year, he scored 19 touchdowns as a senior. He went on to co-captain Millersville University’s 1977 PA Eastern Conference Championship football team, scoring 23 touchdowns and rushing for 1,967 yards in his collegiate career, with the Marauders going 20–8 over his three years. Voted team MVP and captain by his teammates in 1977, he was later honored by Millersville University with the Outstanding Alumni Award in 1995.
