Field Hockey

Brenda competed in the 1984 Olympics as a member of the U.S. National Field Hockey Team, having also been on the national team from 1980 to 1984. She played in numerous international competitions and represented the U.S. on three National Sports Festival teams. A graduate of Twin Valley High School, she earned All-County honors in field hockey for three years, basketball for two years, and softball for four years. She was a pitcher on the 1977 PIAA State Championship Softball Team and a member of the 1978 District III runner-up Field Hockey Team. She graduated from Penn State University, where she played on two NCAA Division Championship Field Hockey Teams (1981–82) and was on the national runner-up team as a freshman in 1981. In 1983, she was named College Player-of-the-Year as the Nittany Lions finished fourth. Following her playing career, she served as an assistant field hockey coach at Rider College, NJ (1984) and at Kutztown University (1986–87), before becoming varsity field hockey coach at Governor Mifflin High School (1988–92) and was head coach at Twin Valley High School in 1995.
