One of the great female athletes in Berks County history, she was an All-Berks selection for three years at Hamburg High School, earned Honorable Mention All-State honors, and finished as the second all-time leading scorer in Berks Scholastic history with 2,231 points, ranking 17th all-time in Pennsylvania history. She holds the Berks County single-game scoring record with 52 points, was named to the Reading Eagle-Times All-Decade Team of the 1980s, and won the Catherine Rhodes Award as the top Berks basketball player. In softball at Hamburg High School, she was All-County for three years at first base and pitcher, threw 11 no-hitters, and recorded the most wins and strikeouts in a single season. At Mt. St. Mary’s University, she played four years of basketball, became the third all-time leading foul shooter at the college with an 82.2% average, helped her team win the Mason Dixon Conference Championship, earned All-Conference First Team honors, and was named top scholar-athlete, receiving the John Rolon Award in 1989. She was also a First Team All-American collegiate softball player and was inducted into the Hamburg High School Hall of Fame in 1995.
