Outstanding track and field coach at Muhlenberg High School. Started track and field program, along with Elias Esposito, at Schuylkill Valley High School (1961). Initiated the Berks County Winter Track and Field program, sponsored by Muhlenberg, in the 1970s. Guided Muhls to a combined meet record of 29-2 (1970-74). After a brief retirement, he returned to coaching junior high track in the mid-1980s and also coached field events at Kutztown University. As the track and field coach at Muhlenberg High School, he won 107 dual meets and had three consecutive unbeaten seasons (1972-74). Won Berks County track team championships (1972 & 1973) by sweeping the major county meets at Albright, West Reading, Wilson, and Governor Mifflin. Led the Muhls to the District III Track and Field Championship (1973). Coached outstanding individual in Larry Dell, the state 100- and 200-yard dash champion. As an athlete himself, he starred in track and field at Muhlenberg High School and Moravian College. Played football for the military in Japan and was selected to the Far East All-Army team. Lettered in football at Moravian and was selected to the weekly All-ECAC team. Served as president of the Berks County Track and Field Coaches Association for a number of years and organized the Reading-Berks Track Club. He was the Athletic Director at Muhlenberg High School (1999-2003).
