Dick Stitzel

All-County in basketball and soccer at Hamburg High School (1961). County doubles tennis champion (1960-61). Outstanding male athlete at Hamburg (1961). Attended East Stroudsburg University after one year at Albright College, playing varsity basketball. Two-year starter in tennis at East Stroudsburg. Coached tennis team at Hamburg for two years and Governor Mifflin for six years. Assistant basketball coach at Governor Mifflin, under Bob Kautter, for six seasons. Head basketball coach for four years at Twin Valley High School. Named Reading Eagle Coach of the Year (1977) as he led the Raiders to their first boys’ basketball title game but were defeated by Wilson. Named Coach of the Year by the Berks Coaches Roundtable. Color analyst for WEEU radio sports for ten years (1984-94). Formerly a director at Kuhn Funeral Home, West Reading.
