Outstanding community leader, coach and organizer for adult and youth activities in Northeast Reading for over 35 years. Battling health and physical infirmities for over 25 years, he continued to be an inspiration for youth associated with CYO activities at St. Joseph’s parish, Olivet Boys and Girls Club and Central Catholic High School. Named Outstanding Athlete at Central Catholic, winning six varsity awards (1952). Coached CYO baseball, basketball and track (1956-86). One of the founders of the Parochial Football League (1957-80). Assisted at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club of Reading for a quarter-century, especially helping grade school athletes. Won Berks County Volunteer of the Year award twice (1981 and 1983). Won Distinguished Alumni Award from Central Catholic High School (1994).
