All Around

A Reading High School graduate when the Red Knights won the Central Penn title (1947). He also won two District III doubles tennis titles while at Reading High. He was a two year starter in basketball at Albright College and was captain of the basketball and tennis teams (1951). Bob won the Ron Regar Award as MVP at Albright College and received the Matten Award for top scholar-athlete at Albright (1951). A Major in the Marine Corps and played for the championship Camp Lejune team. He was the basketball coach at Lower Merion High School (1953-58) and played semi-pro basketball for Reading’s Kissinger’s Travel Agency. He once led a Rotary Exchange team to Adelaide, Australia for two months (1976). He established the Neal O. Harris Award at Albright College to honor the top senior student-athlete and was recently inducted into the Albright Sports Hall of Fame. A teacher/administrator at Harriton, Lower Merion and North Penn school districts and was principal at Harriton and Lower Merion high schools. Bob did graduate work at Temple, Virginia and Indiana universities and at the time of induction was the Executive Secretary of the District I PIAA.
