Charles “Bud” Binder

Top athlete at Central Catholic High School (1946). He led the Cardinals to a four-year two-sports record in football and basketball of 78-14. Bud was the quarterback for the undefeated Central football team (1945) and started on the basketball teams that went 28-2 and 22-4 (1945 & 1946). Played three years of collegiate football at Holy Cross College. The Crusaders were 9-9-2 with Binder starting at the quarterback slot (1948 & 1949). Bud was a tank commander during the Korean War and later played with several rec baseball teams including the outstanding 32-0 Clover Farms team (1946). In the early 50’s, he was an assistant coach at Central Catholic High School and the head JV coach.
