Reading High School golf captain and four year starter (1950). Pennsylvania PIAA golf champion (1949). He earned a golf scholarship to Penn State University and was their number one player for three years. He was on the All-East team that defeated the All-West team in the NCAA finals. Pennsylvania Junior Champion (1950) and the runner-up in the Pennsylvania Seniors championship (1955). Played in the All-Army championship (1955) and finished second at the International Senior Championship in Killarney, Ireland (1994). Captain of the Pennsylvania team in the US Senior Challenge that placed fourth in the United States. He led the Pennsylvania team that won the Leslie Cup matches (1999-2000). Served as president of the Pennsylvania Golf Association. He sponsors MVP awards at Reading High School and Penn State.
