A diminutive 4'6" dynamo, he was classified as one of the strongest men in America. During the course of his two decade weight-lifting career, he won 23 YMCA national titles. He was the first American to bench press twice his own weight by lifting 241¾ lbs. He won the YMCA bantam weight titles twice. Graduated from Reading High School (1959). He set the American record in his weight class by lifting 243 lbs. As one of the top three weight- lifters in his class, he was named to the Olympic weight-lifting team and placed third. He also served as an alternate on the Olympic weightlifting team (1956, 1960 & 1964). His accomplishments go unmatched.
