All Around

A great all-around athlete at Reading High School. Won the District III pole vault championship (1945) and as a collegian at Albright College, won the Mid- Atlantic championship. He played on City Rec. League basketball championship teams for the East Ends (1944-45) and the Gaenzle Green Jackets (1945-46). He was a standout handball player winning the New York YMCA title (1958) and the Montclair, NJ title (1959). He won the Pennsylvania State Handball Championship (1961-63, 1965-70) and paired with Ray Katrinak to win the doubles championship (1965-68). Eight-time Middle Atlantic Singles Handball Champion (1961-69). Finished third in both the Nationals and the AAU Nationals (1967). He played for the Reading YMCA state runner-up volleyball team (1952). Pete was a swimming instructor for many years and was the waterfront director for Camp Winaukee, New Hampshire.
