Legendary golf pro at the Berkshire Country Club. An outstanding teacher, he produced many of Berks County’s finest golfers. Among them are: His son, Johnny, who won 53 championships, including three PIAA state titles, Rod Eaken, who won a PIAA title (1949), John Guenther, Jr., Bob Batdorf II, Bill Whitman and Ed Anewalt III. Considered to be the top-ranked teaching pro in Pennsylvania, he taught many outstanding local players including: Bob Batdorf, Bill Brenneman, Gene Brown, Mike Codi, Gerry Gerhart, Tom Jay, Bert Heizmann, George Jenckes, Jr., Dick Ollivierre, Burns Ryan, Bill Strachan, Sam Codi, Bob Dinsmore, Art Dunlop, Bill Eaken, Dave Giles, George Giles, Ken Grill, Curt Glass, Jeff Hayes, Bill Lewis, Butch Lundstrom, Buddy Lutz, Chip Lutz, Billy Mohn, Steve Mittle, Dick Palmer, William Thomas, Jack Weaver, Byron Whitman and George Yocum. To list all of the local, state and national titles won by those he taught would be an endless process. Harry had a great impact and influence on golf in Berks County for well over a half-century.
