Reading High School Athlete of the Year (1953) and awarded the Astor Theater Award as the Outstanding Gridder. “Rosey” was a first-team selection on the Central Penn All-League Team and was a second- team All-State selection. During his career as the starting quarterback, the Red Knights posted a 21-8-1 record. He was the co-captain of Reading’s basketball team for two years on a team that won two Central Penn titles and a District III championship (1952). In baseball, he was the catcher on the squad that won two East Penn championships. He also played for the Gregg Post American Legion State Championship team (1952). Played minor league baseball for the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Indians. He finished his playing career as a Reading Indian. He started the Laureldale American Legion team and also was the coach (1968-74).
