One of the most outstanding soccer players in Berks County history. He was an all-around athlete at Mount Penn High School, lettering in soccer, basketball and golf. He was a first-team All-County Soccer Team selection (1957). Barry went to West Chester University where he lettered in soccer and golf and was the captain of the soccer and golf teams for two years. Played semi-pro soccer for the Reading Amerks (1960-61). He had a distinguished coaching career at West Chester, serving as an assistant for the varsity soccer team for 13 years before moving on as the head coach of the women’s soccer team for five years. Barry was also an assistant for the golf and men’s tennis teams at West Chester. He has also coached a girls under-sixteen soccer team. Barry eventually became a PIAA soccer official and a USSF license holder.
