A graduate of Nanticoke High School (1948) where he played football, basketball and baseball. Following graduation, he served in the military at Fort Hood, TX and played on the Post football and baseball teams (1951-53). A graduate of Kings College (1957), he was a four-year starter as an offensive and defensive end for the Monarchs and was offered tryouts with the New York Giants and Baltimore Colts. He opted to teach and coach, becoming the head football coach at Pius X High School in Rosetto, PA (1957-64). During his tenure, he won two Pocmount League titles (1959 & 1960), with the first title team going 9-0, scoring 224 points and only yielding 19 points over a nine-game season. He came to Reading Central Catholic High School and coached the football team (1965-75, 1984), posting 104 wins overall and winning the Inter-County League championship (1971). He served at Central as vice-principal for seven years and principal for 24 years. Vince is honored on the St. Pius X Wall of Fame and was inducted into the Berks County Football Coaches Hall of Fame (2006).
