Barry Stebbins

All Around

A graduate of Oley Valley High School (1973) where he was an outstanding athlete and an All-Berks selection in track, soccer and basketball. He held the Berks soccer scoring title (1972). In track, he won the state long jump title and placed second in the long jump at the Golden West Invitational (1972). He was a member of the Jr. Olympics track team that traveled extensively in Europe (1973). He attended Mount St. Mary’s University, where he was a four-time All-American in Division II and a two-time All-American in Division I. Barry was a two-time National Decathlon Champion in Division II and was named to the Mason-Dixon Conference teams in soccer and track. He was inducted into the Mount Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. A personal highlight for him was being pictured in “Faces in the Crowd” in Sports Illustrated (1974). He is currently the record holder in the Masters Indoor Pentathlon in the 40-45 age group. He continues to play soccer in the Germania “Over 40” league. Barry played baseball for the Berkshire Red Sox and was named to their honorary All-Time Team. He was an assistant track coach at North Dakota University (1978-79) and has been an assistant track coach at Albright College from 1995 to 2019.
