Softball

Outstanding baseball player at Reading High School, batting .368 during his senior year. Played three seasons with Pulaski Post of the Berks Legion League and was selected to play in the East-West All-Star game. Played with the Rising Sun softball team (1963- 79), batting .526 in the 1970 state tournament. Helped lead the Sunners to their first ASA major national championship (1975) by getting the key hit in the bottom of the seventh inning against Aurora, IL and hit .571 for the tournament. He played on three ASA men’s major fastpitch national championship teams (1975, 1977-78) and an ISF men’s major fastpitch world championship team (1976). Barry won two Gold Medals while playing for the East team in two National Sports Festivals at Colorado Springs, CO. Hit a grand slam home run in the bottom of the seventh inning in a national tournament game against Oklahoma City. Coached for 15 seasons with the Sunners after his playing days were over.
