Kim has been involved in the martial arts for 37 years. She was twice the National Women’s Champion in fighting and form. She won 175 national awards before retiring at age 52. She has written books on self- defense and has completed a feature film on the same topic. Kim was named the number one Okinawan Women’s Champion by Black Belt magazine and is considered America’s top expert in teaching women about pressure point self-defense techniques. She has taught English in public schools, including Reading High School and later, at Tulpehocken High School, since 1977.
